For years, alcohol was my comfort, my routine, and my so-called reward at the end of a long day. I genuinely believed it was the only way to wind down, the only way to relax, and the only way to cope with stress.
Like so many others, my drinking escalated during the COVID lockdowns. The isolation, the stress, and the uncertainty made alcohol feel like a lifeline. What started as a nightly ritual turned into a non-negotiable habit. I wasn’t just drinking to unwind—I was drinking because it had become ingrained in my daily life.
