Sometimes, the sober community shows up in the best ways. Recently, Mark Mandica, the founder and his team at the Amphibian Foundation gifted AF Life the domain af.life, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Mark, who’s also sober, credits his alcohol-free life for much of what he has today—his work, his family, and the path he’s on. When I reached out to him, asking if he would consider letting me use the domain for my new AF Life Coaching business, he and his team decided they would let it go to use for this purpose. He offered it for AF Life’s coaching—simply because he believes in the work that AF Life is doing.
This kind of generosity speaks to what sobriety is really about: connection, support, and giving back. A huge thank you to Mark and Amphibian Foundation for this incredible gift. It means the world, and I’ll make sure it’s put to good use.
About the Amphibian Foundation
In 2016, the Amphibian Foundation founded with the single purpose of stopping the extinction of the Frosted Flatwoods Salamander (their logo is a larval flatwoods salamander), and immediately set up indoor and outdoor labs at the Blue Heron Nature Preserve in Atlanta to house genetic populations of ‘Frosties’ as a CSC. The Amphibian Foundation held the only ex situ (outside of the natural location) population of Frosted Flatwoods Salamanders in the world, and immediately began developing protocols for the successful hatching, rearing, and management of this CSC in the laboratory.”
Since then, AF has centered inclusivity in partnerships, development, and recruitment. As they’ve grown as an organization and community, they expanded the Frosted Flatwoods Salamander conservation program by spearheading a Conservation Breeding Working Group with other leaders in the field. Plus, have added additional conservation priorities, examining many different aspects of biology, ecology, conservation, education, and communication in and around amphibians — the beloved slimy underdogs.
